Shop Expansion

As regular readers know, we're always working to expand the range of climate-friendly products in our online shop. This month is no exception, with new additions in lots of departments, including "portable power", "around the home", "in the office", "entertainment" and "power savers".

And, talking of "power savers", the Efergy Smart Meter becomes our second product to get a customer review. This is an area we're particularly keen to expand on - it's always useful to get proper feedback from real users!

Miles Of Neutral Driving

Last month we reported on the Citygate VW group's launch of its new environmental policy-

We're delighted to report that the first month has proved excellent, with good feedback from customers and, just as important, good support from the staff too. We really do believe that the way to tackle climate change is by everyone doing something: lots of small actions make up a big action. Companies like Citygate, acting in a responsible way towards the environment, are the way forward.

African Developments

And also to follow up from last month, our initial work in Africa on solar power continues to push forward slowly but surely, with some very useful local contacts being forged on solar power provision. (Local sourcing is very important - it cuts down the carbon footprint even further.) Now, it must be acknowledged that "local", in African terms, isn't the same as "local" in Britain, it's a vast continent. But nevertheless, finding solar power generators in southern Africa is a step forward. We'll keep you in the picture.

Since Last Time

Since the last issue of A Sensible Climate, our regular news updates have looked at -

~ Lies And half truths - a four part look at the deliberate poisoning of honest debate about climate change.

~ If You're Going To Do It, Do It Well. The farce that was E-Day.

~ 200,000 Mistakes - How the UK government has it all wrong when it comes to new town building.

~ The British Budget: More Lies and Failure. How the UK government's budget was anything but 'green'.

~ Wasting Your Money, Killing The Planet and Lying About It. The UK government again - failing to live up to its own hype, even by the standards of its own watchdog.

Looking back at all those, it's easy to despair about the quality of our political ledership in Britain but politicians are politicians - we shouldn't expect anything else. The real way forward is to take action ourselves, and to be well informed as we set about doing so; the "Lies And Half Truths" article shows how careful we need to be.

That's all for this edition. Thanks for reading.
